Matt, Keyboard & musical director
Matt is our musical director and he is one amazing musical genius, not only on the piano and keyboards, but also as Choir Musical Director in his spare time. He knows everything there is to know about harmonies.
At the age of 12, he achieved a grade 8 in piano and at 21 years old he achieved a BMus from The Guildhall School of Music. He then became the resident Pianist at The Washington and Hilton Hotels in London and has toured extensively in Austria, Germany and Italy.
Matt is a very laid-back guy who would never tell you that he is the one who did the arrangements for every song in the Tina Turner Experience as well as arranging all the harmonies. The only time he’s not laid back is if we do it wrong…then he roars like a lion.
A little-known fact about Matt is that he speaks fluent Italian.
Matt says he loves being in The Tina Turner Experience just slightly more than he loves McDonald’s, and he really loves McDonald’s.
andrew, Lead guitar
Andrew says he’s been trying to play the guitar for many years. He has the largest collection of guitar tutor books in the world and has never opened or read any of them.
Andrew is a former student of Goldsmiths College in the City of London. He has been playing in bands since before the electric harp was invented.
Andrew’s original hero was Hank Marvin and like him, Andrew is lost without his specs.
Andrew spent many years performing in the resident band at The Green Man down the Old Kent Road, It is a venue very famous for the quality of musicians that played in that part of London (back in the day). Andrew is in The Guinness Book of Records for being the longest member of Weight Watchers without actually losing any weight.
Clive has been playing in bands since his early teens, gaining experience and craft with many bands for more than 40 years.
He’s worked professionally on the British Country music circuit, working at Butlins, Pontins, Ho-Seasons and Haven Holidays.
He studied under Bob Armstrong at Masterclass Studios and the Musicians Institute Wapping, London.
He joined the Training Them Live project as one of the drum set teachers and performance mentors, helping youngsters learning to play instruments and perform live.
Clive plays percussion with The Tina Turner Experience and is delighted to be part of a great team who work so well together. Clive is an endorsee for MURAT DIRIL Cymbals.
Ideals: To bring a smile to someone’s face each and every day!
Don, Bass guitar
Every band has a joker in the pack and ours is Don. Born in Scotland at the dawn of time, he’s been in the business for 40 years. Don started as a lead guitar player rather than a bass player. We’re glad he changed instruments because he sure knows how to play the bass.
Don has played with many well-known acts over the years and spent quite a bit of time playing with Dave Berry and the Cruisers.
Don has worked as a session bass player for many years. He has been performing with Peter, our drummer, for the last 14 years. On discussing many potential different musical projects with Peter, they came up with the idea for The Tina Turner show.
Don absolutely loves playing in The Tina Turner Experience and is always driving the management to “book more shows”. Don is also an extrovert, as you will see when you watch the show.
Graeme has been playing the Saxophone since the age of 7 and has been very successful from a young age making radio and TV appearances with The Glen Miller youth orchestra. In his teenage years Graeme moved from his Jazz upbringing, to his real passion: Soul, R & B, Pop and Rock & Roll. This change of style led to live performances, recordings, media appearances, theatre shows and extensive arena tours and concert halls.
Graeme is heavily influenced in his style of playing by his idols King Curtis, Sam Butera and Junior Walker. He performed alongside some of the biggest names in the music industry, including The Four Tops, The Temptations, Martha Reaves, Alison Moyet Jools Hollands Blues Band, Jeff Beck and Robert Plant.
We feel very privileged to have Graeme onboard with The Tina Turner Experience and we know he is happy to be here.
Peter, drums & band leader
Peter is the band leader and has the most experience. He’s been in the music business for over 57 years. He played his first gig when he was only 14 years old. One year later, in 1963, he formed his first band Blues Ltd. and they played gigs all over London.
In 1972 Peter formed a new band, Chamise, when he landed a contract for Mecca International. They took up residency at the Lyceum Ballroom in London and played the Mecca International circuit as well as other prestigious venues like The London Palladium and The Royal Albert Hall, to name but a few.
Peter also worked as a session musician and now has his own recording studio “Obscene Studios”.
Peter is the driving beat behind The Tina Turner Experience theatre show. Peter’s favourite saying: “Onwards & Upwards”
Piers, Rhythm & lead guitar
Piers is a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and in-demand session player. As a vastly experienced musician with over 30 years in the industry, Piers has played all over the world with top function and events acts and has worked and collaborated with a range of artists including Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet) Lamar, Kenny Thomas, Peltsman, Eye High, PlayAtMidnight and more.
Piers loves being part of the Tina Turner Experience family, playing in a live theatrical show with an extremely talented group of musicians, singers and dancers.
Piers has a penchant for a good single malt and wine gums…
